John Smith, CICA
John Smith, CICA has served as an intelligence analyst for over 30 years. He began his career as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Army in 1984. In 1994, he joined the Arizona Department of Public Safety as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst. Following September 11, 2001, he was assigned to serve at the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center, in addition to his duties with the Arizona State Gang Task Force. In 2005, John started working for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department assigned to the Counter Terrorism Section, focusing on domestic terrorism and terrorism financing. In 2012, he transferred to the agency's Financial Crimes Bureau.
John holds a B.A. in Russian from Arizona State University and a Masters of Strategic Intelligence with a concentration in Terrorism Studies from American Military University. He is an IALEIA Criminal Intelligence Certified Analyst, an instructor for the IALEIA/LEIU Foundations of Intelligence Analysis Training, past President and Vice President of the Southwest Chapter of IALEIA, and the IALEIA Awards Committee Chairperson.
